Join us for a free in-person event with Colombini Ranch!
We will discuss irrigation and Phytophthora management in walnuts, and how this all ties in with the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). Jason Colombini will share how his family’s operation manages irrigation and its importance for controlling disease and maintaining orchard health and soil integrity. Jaime Ott with UCCE will talk about the research she conducted with Dr. Greg Browne to assess Phytophthora in surface water and how to properly manage it. We will then get an update on SGMA and how UC ANR can support small-scale farmers with SGMA implementation. Additionally, we will discuss the results of a trial conducted on the farm to test different management practices for spider mites, a pest that thrives in hot, dry conditions.
