A free hands-on field day centered on integrated pest management including beneficial invertebrate habitat installation within California olive groves. Open to all interested in Conservation Agriculture.

 

Special topics include:

• Pollinator habitat species selection, establishment, and monitoring.

• Biological control of pests, including black scale.

• Regenerative agricultural practices implemented in olive groves.

• Research and emerging olive knot management strategies

 

Agenda
• 8:30 – 9:00am: Meet and greet, sign-in, coffee and light refreshments
• 9:00 – 9:30 am: COR Agricultural Project Manager Toni Longley – overview, establishment and protection of pollinator habitat at COR.
• 9:45 – 10:45 am: Dr. Elizabeth Boyd and Gerardo Tapia-Pollinator habitat design, monitoring of beneficials / pollinators, and IPM. Best management practices for pollinator habitat establishment.
• 10:45 -11:30 am: Bibiano Martinez and Ted Gailey – Application and principles of Integrated Pest Management in California olives.
